The Maltz Challenge honors the memory of an American airman who made the ultimate sacri ce in the defense of this nation. Michael Maltz prided himself on his physical and mental preparation. In his memory, the Challenge is a series of physically demanding tests of a person’s condition, stamina and mental preparation. The Challenge is neither meant nor designed to be easy. To the contrary, the Challenge is structured to push participants to levels of exertion and endurance far beyond normal expectations. Participants in the Challenge must approach the event with appropriate caution and due regard for their own safety and welfare. Physical conditioning and preparation is a must, and a participant must ensure that he or she is medically eligible to undergo the rigorous stations which comprise the Challenge. No medical examination of any participant will be conducted and no qualifying tests will be administered to any participant before their entry into the Challenge. Only you know whether you are prepared to participate, and only you can make the decision to accept the challenge or not. And during the Challenge, a participant may stop at any time and should do so if they believe they are becoming ill or have been injured. The persons who organize and staff the Challenge are uncompensated volunteers. By entering into and participating in the Maltz Challenge, you accept and understand the physical and/or mental risks you are voluntarily submitting yourself to. Through your participation, you acknowledge and understand that you may suffer a minor or mild injury or you may incur a substantive injury or harm of a permanent nature. Those who organize and staff the event make no representation or guarantee that you will not be injured or harmed in any manner while participating in the Challenge or preparing for it. By signing this waiver and release, (1) you acknowledge these risks and the potential harms you may face, (2), you agree to hold the organizers of the event and the volunteers who staff it harmless for any injuries or harms that might directly or indirectly result from your participation regardless of their severity, (3) you agree to indemnify all individuals associated with the Challenge from any suit arising from or related to any injury or harm you may suffer, and (4) you further agree to bind your heirs, assigns, and/or family members to this agreement as well.
